The Beach. Goa
Goa.
Favorite place of many tourist, Russian tourists especially. Who does not love it down here, It is a nice spot, it is a holiday place, with a beautiful sunsets and kayak rides, fresh fish, cold cocktails, indian rum and fresh coconuts, but you know what ? it does not really do it for me. I guess, Goa is not the real India. Well those who ventured out up north and made your way down all the way to the south experienced many different indian cultures on the way and saw this country from many different perspectives and may understand what I am saying…..It is great to come to Goa after india exploring for sure, to see it and enjoy the relaxed, less chaotic lifestyle. And to be fair, it is a place to chill and have a snooze on the beach after a few crazy months traveling across this country. And let’s face it, no rickshaws on the sand.
So, Goa. The beach, with the cows and the dogs, all animal kingdom allowed on the beach. The featured picture was not chosen quite randomly, in fact, I liked this view through my toes as it will always remind me of one indian souvenir I brought back home with me, a live worm hooked in the sole of my foot. This thing got there somehow through an open cut in my foot I guess, and I only found out a month later. It all happened down here, at the beach while I was finally chilling, drinking beers and walking barefoot in the sand… They call it a “hook worm” and this thing basically lives and crawls under your skin and you notice it because when it grows, it moves and it is itchy and you scratch all night like mad, like I was a month later in Sydney at night at my friend’s place…….Cut the story short, 4 months later I was worm free. This thing just did not want to go away, even though I was drinking yummy anti-worming medicine cocktails prescribed to me by Department of tropical diseases at Sydney Hospital, it did took a few months to kill the beast. My friends and work colleagues will remember me for this story forever, I never knew how many friends of mine really wanted to cut my foot open, impatiently, so they could have a look…..I even named this thing….
If you ever go to Goa or any indian beaches, my advice, wear socks and sandals. The beach dogs are not wormed ![]()
